We at Tony Hakim fitness understand just how hard it can be to get yourself out of the house and down to the gym. You spend all day at work and the last thing you want to do as soon as you wake up, or as soon as you get home, is drag yourself off to a building you have to pay to get into and workout. Fortunately, you don’t have to. For those that are short on time, here is a quick guide on how to exercise at home.
Set yourself some space
When it comes down to it, all you really need to exercise is a little bit of free space to work out. It doesn’t have to be a lot, just enough so you can move around without knocking anything over. Perhaps set aside an area in front of your television where you can blast a few cardio exercises before your favourite show, or during the ads.
Create your own routine
It’s not necessary to build your own home gym full of expensive equipment in order to get a decent workout. All it takes is a little knowhow and experimenting on your part to find a routine that works for you. For instance, you can combine exercises that work up your heart rate like jumping jacks and jogging on the spot with muscle building exercises like push ups and hey presto, you have your own custom workout regime.
Do the right exercises
Of course, in order to construct your own workout, it’s important to know which workouts are the best for you. This is where one or two small pieces of workout equipment such as dumbells, a kettlebell or a jump rope can come in handy. If you’re looking to build muscle mass, it would be good to focus on strenuous activities like weight curling or crunches. Fat burning on the other hand should see you doing high intensity workouts focused on rapid movement.
Do you work out at home? What are your routines? We here at Tony Hakim want to know what works for you.
